IVP January 2017 Releases

To kick of the new year, following on from our December releases and our wide-reaching Christmas giveaway, IVP has a pertinent trio of releases for January 2017! With an important new book on sexual ethics, the 2017 Keswick Year Book, and a new NSBT on preaching, our opening salvo for January 2017 demonstrates IVP’s ongoing commitment to partnership in publishing, proclaiming the Gospel faithfully in each generation, and digging deep into the Bible.

Glynn Harrison, previously Professor and Head of Psychiatry at the University of Bristol in the UK, is well known for his thoughtful and relevant contributions on topics of church and culture. His previous book, The Big Ego Trip, considered the effect that the culture of self esteem is having on our world and our church. Glynn’s new book, A Better Story: God, Sex & Human Flourishing, is a gospel shaped beam of light aimed at the dark heart of our culture. Taking seriously the challenges of Shame culture, the Sexual Revolution, and the Church’s mixed response, Harrison has written a powerful book. Why ‘A Better Story’? Because the sexual revolution demands one. And the Gospel gives us its shape… You can ¬†find out more about ABetter Story from Glynn’s website, where you can also read an extensive extract.

IVP is committed to publishing books that are faithful to the Bible and prayerfully and thoughtfully engage with and support the Church’s mission in the world. The long-running NSBT series, edited by Don Carson, is a great demosntration of this commitment. The latest volume in the series is Preaching in the New Testament: An exegetical and biblical-theological study. Written by Jonathan I. Griffiths, this is a valuable new entry in one of our most popular and long-running series of biblical theology books. Keep an eye out for a blog post about the book soon!

Finally for January 2017, IVP is delighted to be publishing again the Keswick 2016¬†Yearbook, Power to Change: Becoming Like God’s Son. The flagship fruit of our publishing partnership with Keswick Ministries, this book collects some of the key talks and teachings from the Keswick Convention, with contributors including Peter Lewis, Adrian Holloway, Jonathan Lamb, Ray Evans, Calisto Odede, Bill Bygroves, Simon Manchester, Steve Brady, David Jackman, Rico Tice and Jeremy McQuoid. As well as being available at the Convention, we’ll have copies for sale through our website.

All our January 2017 titles will be available through our website and in bookshops from the 19th of this month. Keep an eye on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feeds for more!
