Hiding the word of God in your heart
Can't recommend this and its successor volume 2 highly enough. The Murray McCheyne one-year Bible reading plan is quite well known and a lot of scheme are based on it, but it's hard to get through. You have to read 4 Bible passages a day normally and though that's excellent for getting through the Bible you might feel you're rushing through and not being able to think about it enough. What Carson does is to take the first two sets of readings in volume 1 and write a commentary which somehow manages to incorporate insights from both passages. He really manages to bring out the text and help the reader in understanding God's word better. We all, always, need to get a greater grasp of God's word, and this is an excellent book to help you do that. Buy it!
