Teenage daughters - terrifying trauma or delightful discovery?
I wonder how most adults respond when confronted with the words "adolescence" or "puberty". Perhaps with dread ... a sense of impending disaster ... resigned patronizing tolerance ... or with joyful anticipation of seeing a much-loved child discovering themselves and developing and blossoming into a God-shaped life. Parents have a huge part to play, but how clued up are they about the world in which their children live and the pressures they face every time they leave the four walls of home? This book is a must read for every parent, and an absolutely great book to give to a teenage daughter. Rachel Gardner writes as a pal who has been there, got the T-shirt and one to whom God has given a great gift of understanding - understanding both the process of puberty with all its joys and trauma and the ability to ground her advice in God's word. Her ability to face the facts and tell it like it is leaves no area untouched, and no uncertainties of what God's standards are and the consequences of ignoring them. And in the process the reader is left with a sense of wonder and awe at the beauty and love of the Creator who longs to see his love and beauty blossom in his Cherished ones. My 15-year-old granddaughter has a birthday this month, and guess what I am giving her?
