These resources have been created to support the new edition of John Stott's classic work - celebrating its 50th anniversary! They are ideal for churches who would like to use Basic Christianity as an introductory course, or for use in small group / home group settings as a group of people read through and study Basic Christianity together. Basic Christianity Powerpoint Presentation - This can be used by those leading a small group or course to pull out the key messages of John Stott's teaching in Basic Christianity. Basic Christianity Small Group Study Questions - These are taken from the text of the new edition of Basic Christianity, and can be printed out as many times as required to give to small group members. These have been formatted to allow room for notes and for participants to write in their answers to the questions. How to use the Basic Christianity extra resources - These materials are fairly flexible and can be used in a variety of ways: The book itself is in four parts and has eleven chapters across these parts. For those running a course or small group, the materials here could be used either across 4 sessions to match the parts, or in 11 sessions - one for each chapter. It may be useful to buy a copy of the book for each participant, to give out with the intention of the relevant chapter/s being read before each session. To aid this, we are making the book available in 'packs' at special prices (see above) The study questions could also be used in a similar way, to give participants the chance to make notes or answer the questions in advance of a meeting. Alternatively, you may choose to print these off and give them out at the beginning of each session instead. In some settings it may not be easy or appropriate to use the Powerpoint presentation, but the notes contained on this could still be used by the leader of a group to help draw out the main points of the teaching. Otherwise using the Powerpoint presentation during a session will help to cover the key points and provide a useful overview of John Stott's teaching for participants. |
