The quickest way to search for a book is to enter part of the title or author's name in the search box in the top right-hand corner of the website.
When you start typing in the search box, a drop-down list will appear, with suggestions of what you might be looking for. If you see what you want in the list, click on it, otherwise just finish typing your query into the search box and press the Enter key on your keyboard.
You will now see a list of everything that matches your search. To find out more about a particular item, click once on its title or cover image.
There are two stages involved in buying a book: adding it to your basket and paying for it.
In every search result and every book information page you will find a link which allows you to add that book to your basket. Normally the link will be labelled ‘buy it now’ or ‘add to basket’, but it may also say ‘preorder’ if the product you wish to buy has not yet been published. Clicking once on a link like this will add the product to your shopping basket, which is a list of the books that you want to purchase. Adding an item to your basket does not commit you to purchasing it - you can take it out of your basket at any time.
On the right hand side of the page, you will see a section labelled ‘your basket’ which will show you the number of items in your basket, as well as their total value. You can view in more detail what items are in your basket by clicking either on 'QuickView' or 'Checkout'.
To remove an item from your basket click ‘Checkout’, which will take you to a page containing details of each book added to your basket. Tick the box next to the product(s) you wish to remove and press the ‘Recalculate’ button. The page will refresh and you should see that the product you wanted to remove has gone.
If you wish to alter the quantity of any of the products in your basket, change the number in the ‘Quantity’ box and press the ‘Recalculate’ button. You should see the price update accordingly.
To continue shopping, click on the ‘Continue Shopping’ button.
To continue to the check out, click once on the ‘Order Now’ button.
Your shopping basket remembers the items you want to buy. You can search for further books without losing the contents of you basket. When you are ready to pay for your order, return to your basket by clicking ‘Checkout’ on the right hand side of the screen.
To take you basket to the checkout for payment, first return to your shopping basket page by clicking ‘Checkout’ on the right hand side of the screen. Check that the items in your basket are definitely the ones you want, and then click on the ‘Order Now’ button.
Before proceeding, we need to collect your name and address. We do this before asking for credit card information as your address will determine any charges for postage and packing.
If you have already registered as a customer on our site, you can log in using your email address and optional password on the page (‘Are you a new or returning customer’) which appears when you click the ‘Order Now’ Button. Otherwise, you will need to select ‘I am a new customer’ and then click ‘Register my contact details’.
On the next page (‘Your address’), fill in the details of the address associated with the credit or debit card you wish to use to pay for your books. When you are happy, click the ‘Continue’ button at the bottom of the page. If you wish to have your order delivered to a different address than your card address, please remember to tick the box labelled ‘Tick to add a different delivery address’ before pressing ‘Continue’. If you have selected this option, pressing ‘Continue’ will bring you to a new screen where you will be asked for the delivery address. Normally we are happy to deliver your order to an address other than your own, but for security reasons we reserve the right to refuse. Please complete all the required details, and press the ‘Continue’ button.
You will now be asked to ‘Confirm your order’. Postage and packing, as well as any charges or discounts for which you are eligible will now be shown against your order. If you are happy with the amount shown, click ‘Order’ to move on and enter your card details. If not, you can follow the instructions above to alter the contents of your basket.
Post and packing is always free within the UK. If you are purchasing from outside the UK, there is a standard charge of £3.95 per order.
Finally, you can add any additional comments or delivery instructions. Then press the 'Continue' button to proceed to the payment stage.
You will now be asked to ‘Select your payment method’. Please click on the symbol which matches the card you wish to use.
Finally, you will be asked for ‘Your payment information’. Please fill in all required fields, tick the box to confirm that you agree to our terms and conditions, and then click ‘Order’ to complete the transaction.
Once you have placed your order, the site will display a receipt. You should print this out as your record of the transaction. Each order has a unique order number, which should be quoted in any correspondence, and which you can enter on the website to track the progress of your order.
We will also send you an e-mail confirming your order.
Postage and packaging is free of charge for all orders in the UK. Our normal shipping period is within 5 working days of your order. Single/small items will be sent by 1st class post and larger orders with a carrier.
You can return to the site at any time to check the status of your order. Click on ‘Track Orders’ on the right-had side of the site, enter the tracking code from your order receipt and click ‘Continue’.
If you do not have a recent order tracking code, you can search for past orders using your e-mail address and password.
The system will look up your past orders, listing the most recent first. Our sales staff indicate when an order has been processed. If you do not see your order, or it is not being shipped within a few days, please e-mail email@example.com giving your name and order number.
Our books are not available on a ‘sale or return’ basis. However, in the unlikely event of you receiving an incorrect order or damaged goods, please contact us (on 01159781054 or firstname.lastname@example.org) and we will be happy to arrange for you to receive a replacement.
