Experiencing the Spirit

New Testament essentials for every Christian

Graham Beynon

For some Christians, God the Holy Spirit is something of a mystery, and they are not too sure what to say about him. Others speak with confidence and enthusiasm about him, challenging us to be ‘filled with the Spirit’, or to live a ‘Spirit-filled life’. As a result, the work of the Spirit has sometimes been controversial.

The three members of the Godhead, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, are not only distinct persons; they also have distinct roles. We may have some idea of what the Father and the Son do, but what is the Spirit’s role?

Graham Beynon looks at the main New Testament passages in which the Spirit’s work is described. With freshness and clarity, he builds a picture of what the Holy Spirit does, and hence what experiencing him in our lives should look like.

Really Helpful

I found this book really encouraging. It outlines what the Bible has to say about the work of the Holy Spirit in non-believers and believers. As a Christian I was encouraged by this book and seeing again all that the Holy Spirit is achieving for me and working inside me. It doesn't deal explicitly with the Charismatic gifts, but has a really helpful emphasis on why every Christian should be encouraged by the Spirit's work inside them and the gifts that he does give to them. I'd recommend this book to any Christian who wants to think more and have a broad perspective on the work of the Spirit
